I have recently been playing around with adding more textured backgrounds to my illustrations. So I spent a day just creating some backgrounds the old fashion way. I used the covers of old books as the canvas and adding some paint and paper to create texture. It felt really good to roll up my sleeves and get my hands dirty. I need to take the time to do this more often.

I’m taking an online class by Lisa Sonora Beam called The Art of Strategy: Creating A Strategic Planner.
The Class teaches you how to make a Strategic Planner Strategy to provide a framework for determining the results you want to achieve, a workable plan for kicking some major creative butt so you can get the results you know you want.
…AND Here are some pictures of my Strategic Planner.
I’ve pretty much had the same goal since before I graduated from college, 11 years ago. — To be a full-time self employed licensed artist and illustrator.
This sometime feel unreachable and at times unattainable. When I set a goal, I tend to go full force in the beginning and just when I start to feel like I’m making some traction I’ll hit a brick wall, and everything will come to a complete standstill.
When I get discouraged, I have a way of work myself into quite a ‘funk’. that is always very difficult to climb out of, and can sometimes last the good part of a year. When I’m finally able to emerge from the ‘funk’ and actually start working again, all the momentum I once had is gone and I have to start all over from the beginning.
I need to figure out a way to keep a steady pace and work thru roadblocks in order to keep my momentum going. I need to feel like I’m making progress and am not always taking 1 step forward them 2 steps back.

My 3yr old daughter and I made some some Homemade Valentine’s for her daycare card exchange . She art directed and I drew. Then she watercolored stickered glued and glittered. (with a little assistance) So much fun!!
