I started to bind a sketchbook for each month of 2009 to support my News Year Resolution of doing one drawing a day. So far the drawings aren’t anything spectacular, and I’ve missed a few days, but I am doing it!
It feels pretty good to start to get into a routine. They say it takes 21 days to make or break a habit. Others say it can take over a month to solidify it and make it something you will do without having to think about it. It may only take 21 days to form a habit, but only takes one day to break it. I also think it probably helps if you WANT to do it. Because if you don’t you will always find something else that need to be done and you’ll find a way to do everything but that. I have made a firm decision to draw on a daily basis. I have taken to drawing on the train during my commute. I don’t always get a seat and I sometimes get a little anxious about people looking over my shoulder, but am finding it to be easier everyday. I’m shooting for consistency rather than perfection. And like I said my daily drawings are are far from spectacular. But I it’s more about the process and habit then it is about the out come at this stage in the game.
